Egypt's General Authority for Healthcare (GAHC) is partnering with BIOMERIEUX Egypt and HYPHENS Solutions to enhance diagnostic services and digital transformation within governorates covered by the Universal Health Insurance System.

GAHC head Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky met recently with representatives from the two companies to discuss establishing reference laboratories, speeding up diagnostics, and integrating digital solutions, the GAHC said.

The initiative aims to improve healthcare quality and efficiency in diagnostic and medical analysis services.

The collaboration will focus on setting up centralised, advanced reference laboratories in the Canal and Upper Egypt regions, specifically in Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, South Sinai, Luxor, and Aswan.

These labs will be pivotal hubs for GAHC-affiliated facilities, equipped with the latest diagnostic and analytical technologies to ensure accurate and rapid results meeting international standards.

Dr. El-Sobky stressed the GAHC's focus on medical laboratories as part of its strategy to continuously develop diagnostic services, highlighting the importance of cutting-edge technology for promoting health equity and accelerating access to accurate diagnoses.

The meeting also addressed a comprehensive "Anti-Sepsis" awareness campaign to educate the public and medical community on risks, prevention, and early detection of sepsis. The campaign will include advanced training for medical and nursing staff in GAHC facilities.

El-Sobky affirmed that combating sepsis is a clinical and societal responsibility built on scientific foundations, public awareness, and medical team training.

Discussions further explored integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analysis technologies into GAHC's medical laboratories. This integration will link labs to the Authority's unified information system, enabling real-time biological data analysis and enhancing the speed and accuracy of medical decision-making.

Dr. El-Sobky clarified that the GAHC already possesses a sophisticated digital system, and integrating AI into its laboratories represents a new step towards enhancing operational efficiency, reducing diagnosis time, and improving the quality of services provided to patients. He noted that the GAHC already has a sophisticated digital system, and AI integration represents a new step towards boosting operational efficiency, reducing diagnosis time, and improving patient services.
