Madbouly reviews development of Naguib, Sadat axes, Alexandria corniche

Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly on Monday inspected major development projects in Alexandria, including the expansion of the city's corniche and the Mohamed Naguib axis. He was accompanied by several officials, including Housing Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny and Alexandria Governor Ahmed Khaled Hassan Saeed.

El-Sherbiny emphasized that the development work aims to enhance Alexandria's image as a prominent tourist and historical destination, ensuring that projects align with the city's aesthetic character.

Governor Saeed detailed efforts to improve the corniche, including unifying beach gate and umbrella colors, repainting light poles, and removing encroachments to enhance the urban landscape. He also noted that the governorate is issuing regular social media updates on the corniche expansion, providing alternative routes to ease traffic congestion, particularly during the busy summer months. Collaboration with the General Traffic Department is ongoing to install directional signs and manage traffic flow.

Major General Mahmoud Nassar, head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, outlined the corniche expansion, which will increase its width to 32.5 meters and expand traffic to five lanes in each direction, up from three. The project also includes building 17 beach access gates with facilities, a rainwater drainage system, and eight pedestrian traffic signals.

Additionally, Major General Tarek Mowafi, head of the Central North Coast Reconstruction Agency, stated that the Mohamed Naguib axis project is part of a national plan to upgrade the road network. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic in the densely populated Sidi Bishr Mosque area, improving daily life for residents.

Madbouly also visited the El-Sadat Axis project, known as "Bridge 45," which is being constructed as part of eastern Alexandria's development plan. The Housing Minister highlighted the bridge's significance in connecting several key roadways and confirmed that he has ordered an acceleration of the project's completion due to its role in reducing traffic and travel times. Upon completion, the project will also feature a green area with recreational activities, enhancing the visual appeal of the surrounding area.
