Military Production Minister inspects Heliopolis Chemical Industries

Engineer Mohamed Salah El-Din Moustafa, Minister of State for Military Production, paid a surprise visit to the Heliopolis Company for Chemical Industries (Military Factory 81), which supplies the Armed Forces with heavy ammunition and other military products.

This visit comes as part of the Ministry’s regular field monitoring efforts of all affiliated companies and units, aimed at assessing their compliance with previously issued ministerial directives designed to improve performance.

The Minister proceeded directly to the production lines, where he listened to a presentation by Engineer Mohamed Abdel Moneim El-Bassiouny, Chairman of Heliopolis Chemical Industries, on the company’s recent developments intended to boost productivity and enhance performance.

The tour also included a visit to the Rubber and Plastics Sector, which was established in 1964. This sector supplies the Armed Forces and supporting industries with items such as ammunition components, cartridge cases, protective masks, tank wheels, and track links. Its output is also used in various civilian industries.

Moustafa also inspected the company’s warehouses to review procedures in place to ensure secure and safe operations, both currently and in the future.

During the inspection, the Minister engaged with several employees, listened to their feedback and demands, and encouraged them to continue their efforts. He also instructed management to address any challenges workers may face in the production process and to ensure a supportive work environment that encourages productivity and growth.

He stressed the importance of applying principles of governance and internal oversight, adhering to maintenance schedules, and regularly conducting necessary checks to maintain the technical condition of the production lines and prolong their operational lifespan.

He also emphasized the importance of periodic reviews of production and marketing plans, inventory levels, and raw material requirements, while underlining the need to implement industrial safety and cybersecurity protocols, and to ensure proper, regular, and safe waste disposal.

He reiterated the company’s vital role as an industrial pillar under the Ministry of Military Production, supporting the national economy and contributing to the advancement of domestic industry, in line with the directives of the political leadership.

It is worth noting that Heliopolis Chemical Industries was established as the first Egyptian company in the Middle East specializing in paints and chemicals. The company possesses advanced technological capabilities, and its core mission is to meet the needs of the Armed Forces and police through a range of military products. These include heavy ammunition of various calibers, explosive fuses, mortar shells, depth charges, blasting molds, and protective masks. The company also operates a factory dedicated to the production of black powder.

In addition, the company leverages its surplus production capacity to manufacture a variety of civilian products, such as various types of paints, nitroglycerin, formaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde, hexamine, dry fuel tablets, and sports stadium seats that are manufactured according to international standards set by FIFA. These seats are designed to withstand different temperatures, weather fluctuations, and erosion in the countries to which they are exported.

The company’s engineering division is also responsible for designing metal parts and molds for civilian products, components for chemical filters, and various spare parts.
