President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Thursday to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and China. The meeting, attended by Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly and officials from both nations, underscored the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, reported that Premier Li conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, emphasizing President El-Sisi's status as a "dear friend of China" who consistently receives a warm reception in Beijing.

Premier Li highlighted China's appreciation for its close relationship with Egypt, built upon a long history of strategic partnership, mutual respect, and shared interests. He praised the rapid growth of bilateral relations and the close coordination between Egypt and China on both regional and international fronts. Li also commended Egypt's crucial role as a pillar of stability in the Middle East.

President El-Sisi, for his part, affirmed Egypt's commitment to enhancing cooperation with China across various sectors of mutual interest. He expressed a desire to activate the comprehensive strategic partnership, especially as the two nations approach the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.

The spokesperson noted that President El-Sisi lauded the contributions of Chinese companies to development projects in Egypt. He also voiced Egypt's ambition to attract more Chinese investments, particularly in new and renewable energy and the electric vehicle industry. Furthermore, efforts to boost Chinese tourism to Egypt and strengthen cooperation in manufacturing and overall development were emphasized. President El-Sisi also highlighted Egypt's interest in continued coordination with China on the debt swap file and the efficient implementation of related agreements.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on regional and international developments. Both sides underscored the importance of stabilizing the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran and resuming diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution to the crisis. They further stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring immediate humanitarian aid access, and reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
