El-Sherbiny monitors progress of expat housing initiatives

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El_Sherbiny, has announced that brochure sales for the second phase of the "Housing for All Egyptians 7" presidential initiative will commence on July 15, 2025. This phase targets low and middle-income citizens.

The new offering includes a total of 113,112 residential units. Of these, 99,792 units are being offered for the first time, with an additional 13,320 units that were previously announced. Unit sizes for this phase range from 75 to 90 square meters.

El-Sherbiny clarified that the second phase of the initiative features two types of units: Ready-to-deliver residential units that require a serious reservation down payment of EGP 25,000, and Under-construction units, with a 36-month delivery timeline, that require a serious reservation down payment of EGP 50,000.

Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund, explained that the Fund has responded to citizens' requests and desires, received through its official communication channels. The Fund has made several decisions to facilitate procedures for applicants.

Applicants for the "Housing for All Egyptians 7" initiative will follow a streamlined process based on their previous application history:

For applicants not prioritized in the "Housing for All Egyptians 5" initiative: These individuals only need to upload the completed and signed housing unit reservation form and declaration (both included in the new brochure). They must also provide the receipt for the serious reservation down payment and any updated documentation regarding their social status or workplace (if applicable).

For applicants who did not previously meet the conditions: In addition to the documents listed above, these applicants must also upload the documentation that led to the previous rejection of their application (i.e., the reason for non-eligibility).

For all other new applicants: These individuals must upload all required documents as detailed in the initiative's brochure.

Abdel Hamid further explained that the Fund has decided to allow all customers who were not prioritized or did not meet the conditions in the "Housing for All Egyptians 5" initiative and were unable to retrieve their serious reservation down payments within the previously specified period (via SMS messages to their mobile phones) to retrieve these down payments during the application period for the new announcement, at the latest.

The administrative fees for all customers will be EGP 350, in addition to EGP 350 for registration fees. However, customers who previously applied for the "Housing for All Egyptians 5" initiative are exempt from the administrative fees, and will only need to pay EGP 150 for registration fees.
