During his reception of members from the American Chamber of
Commerce's Mining Committee, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim
Badawi highlighted the increasing global importance of the mining sector. He
affirmed the Egyptian government's commitment to supporting the sector's
development to attract foreign mining companies and elevate Egypt's global
standing in this promising field.
Badawi also noted that the Ministry aims to expand into
various areas of the mining industry that add value and generate significant
returns for the state.
He praised the strategic partnership between the petroleum
sector and the American Chamber of Commerce, acknowledging the efforts of its
various committees in attracting American investments to Egypt. He asserted that
the current time is the best for investing in the mining sector in Egypt.
The Mining Committee delegation commended the exceptional
support the Egyptian mining sector is currently receiving from the state. They
highlighted the efforts to develop mining agreements and transform the Mineral
Resources Authority into an economic body, noting these initiatives actively
encourage international companies to invest in the sector.
The delegation also recounted their recent visit to Washington D.C., where they observed significant interest from the U.S. administration in Egypt's mining sector developments. They specifically noted the U.S. administration's eagerness to encourage American mining companies to invest in Egypt, particularly in rare and vital minerals, and to implement important strategic projects in this domain.
