Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the events will run until July 11. Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat, is among the attendees, alongside numerous government officials and representatives from international organizations.
The WSIS+20 Forum is a joint
initiative by several United Nations agencies, including the ITU, UNESCO, the
UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Conference on Trade and Development
(UNCTAD), and the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development
(CSTD).
This year's forum serves as a
critical platform for the international community to build on the "Summit
of the Future" outcomes and foster global digital cooperation for a more
inclusive and sustainable future. It will also facilitate multi-stakeholder
discussions to assess progress and challenges since the 2003 Geneva Plan of
Action and the 2004 Tunis Agenda.
Held concurrently, the AI for
Good Global Summit will delve into critical issues surrounding AI governance.
The Egyptian delegation is actively participating in various sessions, aiming
to present Egypt's vision on digital society and artificial intelligence.
During his visit, Dr. Talaat is scheduled to meet with ministers, government officials, major global telecommunications and IT companies, and international organizations to explore cooperation opportunities, exchange expertise, and highlight promising investment prospects in Egypt's communications and information technology sector.
