Madbouly emphasizes international cooperation for SDG success

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Monday launched the "Seville Platform for Action" on behalf of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, as part of the Fourth United Nations Financing for Development Conference hosted in Seville, Spain.

The event was attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, and other senior officials.

Both Guterres and Sánchez emphasized the critical need to mobilize financing for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and called for collaboration among all parties to support developing nations' efforts towards development. They also highlighted the significance of the Seville Platform for Action's launch.

Madbouly, in his address, expressed his pleasure at attending the launch of the platform, describing it as a timely initiative aimed at mobilizing governments, financial institutions, development partners, the private sector, and all stakeholders. The platform seeks to assess challenges, exchange experiences, and present innovative solutions to put the world back on track for accelerated SDG achievement.

Madbouly noted Egypt's active role in this initiative, which cited Egypt as a successful development model. This recognition particularly highlights Egypt's use of the Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF) to coordinate reforms and investments and implement "Egypt Vision 2030." It also acknowledges Egypt's success in mobilizing finance through the innovative "NWFI" national platform, which focuses on attracting investments and funding for highly profitable projects in the water, food, and energy sectors.

The Prime Minister underscored the INFF as a pivotal tool for prioritizing investments, mapping the financing landscape, and optimizing resource allocation. He added that the framework prioritizes key sectors to accelerate sustainable development, especially education, health, social protection, water, sanitation, and transport, while also addressing important issues such as the environment and gender equality.

Madbouly explained that this framework forms a cornerstone for several initiatives dedicated to fostering multifaceted sustainable development and inclusive community partnerships. Foremost among these is the "Takaful and Karama" (Solidarity and Dignity) presidential initiative, launched in 2015. This program aims to assist impoverished families, with a focus on human capital development through conditional and unconditional cash transfers, bolstering social protection, education, and health, and is globally recognized as an effective social protection model.

He also cited another success story: the Decent Life presidential initiative, launched in 2019. This national project for rural development aims to improve the living conditions and daily lives of Egyptians by providing a comprehensive range of services, benefiting over 60 million Egyptians in more than 4,500 villages.

Madbouly concluded by emphasizing that effective international development cooperation is essential for achieving the SDGs by 2030. He stated, "We look forward to the full activation of the 'Seville Platform for Action,' which will contribute to translating commitments into achievements on the ground. We will cooperate constructively with other countries and development partners to make this platform a successful model for knowledge exchange and the adoption of best practices, ensuring that no one is left behind."
