Kouchouk: Government to submit real estate tax relief to Parliament

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk confirmed that there will be no tax increases in the new budget, emphasizing that the priority is to expand the tax base, a move he described as beneficial for all parties. He also noted that the upcoming fiscal year will witness the launch of additional packages to encourage both current and new taxpayers.

Responding to questions from tax community representatives and journalists during a press conference announcing the preliminary results of the tax facilitation package, Kouchouk stated that a significant portion of the business community responded positively to the initiative and helped achieve some of the government's goals. He highlighted that the tax community has been a strong and influential partner in all the positive indicators recorded over the past 11 months.

The minister expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed ideas or suggestions to advance the tax reform process, which is built on trust, partnership, and support for the business community. He added that the government will continue its efforts in the next phase through new initiatives aimed at supporting the national economy.

Kouchouk pointed out that real estate tax relief measures are on their way to the House of Representatives, and that customs facilitation measures will be launched in the next fiscal year. He emphasized that the government is working within an integrated framework involving various ministries and relevant entities to boost the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy. The new budget, he added, will be implemented with prudence and balance, utilizing hedging tools that address current economic challenges.

He concluded by stating that the government aims to generate financial savings to support social protection and human development. He also noted a recent rise in private sector investment and continued growth in the industrial and tourism sectors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting priority economic sectors.
