Sokhna Port welcomes largest dry bulk ship

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) announced today that Ain Sokhna Port received its largest dry bulk vessel since its establishment, the "Berge Kuju", arriving from Brazil. The ship docked at 10:00 AM, carrying a cargo of 180,008 tons of iron ore (iron pellets) for Ezz Steel company.

The "Berge Kuju" sails under the Isle of Man flag, measures 300 meters in length and 50 meters in width, with a draft of 16.4 meters and a total capacity of 206,176 tons.

The arrival of this giant vessel is part of SCZONE's ongoing efforts to develop its ports' capabilities and enhance their readiness to receive various types of ships. This move further reinforces its position as a regional logistics hub on the Red Sea and Mediterranean, bolstering its regional and international competitiveness.

Receiving this massive iron ore shipment marks a significant step, reflecting Ain Sokhna Port's strong infrastructural and operational efficiency. It underscores the port's pivotal role in serving both domestic and international trade and industry, especially amidst the ongoing development and modernization efforts across all ports within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
