El-Sherbiny reviewed the strategic plan for seawater desalination plant projects, which includes four axes: the first is to provide the necessary water to overcome current challenges and future population growth; the second is to provide alternative water needs; the third is to provide water needs for existing plants; and the fourth is to provide the water needs required for urban development.
He also reviewed the targeted plan for implementing 23 desalination projects over the next five years in 10 governorates. He also discussed the status of existing projects and planned expansions, as well as a number of proposed solutions for providing water to several governorate areas through desalination plants, as well as completed projects.
The Minister of Housing also reviewed the general status of utility projects within the first phase of the "Decent Life" presidential initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Housing through its affiliated entities. He also reviewed the work mechanism in the workshops affiliated with the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, including maintenance work on station components and the process of renewing worn-out components, equipment, and vehicles used within the system.
The meeting also addressed the reliance on local production in projects being implemented by the Ministry's affiliated entities, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He also reviewed the status of supplies for project components and stations under construction.
At the conclusion of the meeting, El-Sherbiny directed the preparation of a comprehensive report on the status of all projects, including opportunities, challenges, and necessary requirements, in order to ensure that all necessary requirements are met for their implementation and maximum benefit to the Egyptian citizen.
