Esmat monitors rising power demand in Alexandria

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, continued his field tours during the Eid al-Adha period, to monitor work progress and ensure the quality of electricity nutrition and ensure the stability of the unified grid and the continuity of the electricity.

Esmat made an inspection visit to a control center in eastern Alexandria, during which he continued indicators of the increase in energy demand, the rise in loads and the increase in electricity consumption over the past weeks, which witnessed a rise in temperatures.

He followed up on the stability of the electrical grid at the level of distribution, and reviewed the procedures that were carried out through the urgent plan that was implemented over the past months. These efforts aimed to enhance operational efficiency, reduce losses, combat electricity theft and secure hot points at the level of distribution networks in Alexandria Governorate. He also assessed the impact of the loss reduction plan and confront electricity theft on the stability of the unified grid, and the special preparations for the summer within the governorate and deal with high loads During the peak times, and other measures to secure stable electrical power supply with the start of the influx of citizens to the governorate during the summer holiday.

He inspected the control center and reviewed the total load of the East Alexandria area through the real-time monitoring screen connected to the center. The inspection tour extended to a headquarters receiving reports of faults in the branch and follow up of incoming reports, and employment orders and how they are handled, including communication with subscribers, recording faults immediately upon receiving reports, and measuring the time taken to deliver the service. He also checked the efficiency of the working teams and their ability to utilize the modern technology in use, ensuring the achievement of its intended goals particularly regarding system efficiency and its capacity to accommodate new distribution units.

The Minister listened to a detailed explanation from Engineer Ihab Al -Faki, head of Alexandria Electricity Distribution Company, on the control system in the eastern Alexandria network after its development, explaining that the center supervises 32 distributors, 10 stations, in addition to 300 smart rooms, and 300 rooms indicating the direction of faults, as well as how to implement maneuvers via smart rooms associated with the center, and the mechanism of linking new distributors to the control system and testing them using the quality system (QAS) before applying them In the actual operating system.

Dr. Esmat managed a dialogue with the operating crews in the presence of a number of sectors and general managers on absorbing and implementing operating patterns, and applying quality standards to improve the level of services provided to citizens, and congratulated workers on the occasion of Eid al -Adha, pointing to the Ministry's work program and adopting a policy of improving fuel consumption rates, relying on the use of the highest efficient units, and permanent preparation for confrontation The emergency cases and continuous follow -up of the duties of the national network and the speed of discovering faults to fix them, and how to anticipate the occurrence of a fault and the instant follow -up of the data and monitor their change for the speedy behavior of emergency cases to maintain the stability of the network.

He said that the electricity distribution companies are the interface of the sector and the link with the subscribers and the recipient of electrical services. They have a responsibility to highlight the efforts made at the level of production and transport through communication with citizens and the quick response to the reports and the quality of the services provided. He explained that the role of the control centers in the grid is increasingly important in light of the current operating conditions, in which work is done through a new operating pattern that takes into account the reduction of fuel consumption, meeting  the grid's electricity demands, and confront high loads, maneuvering with units to raise and reduce the ability to generate the network, and follow up on loads and hot points, within the framework of the economic operation program and improving performance rates.
