The announcement followed a pivotal workshop on "Manufacturing Spare Parts using 3D Printing and Digital Machinery Technologies" held yesterday at the Digital Manufacturing Center (DMC) in the AOI's Engine Factory in Helwan. The workshop was attended by Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities. It was organized in cooperation with Immensa, a leading company specializing in digitalized spare part manufacturing.
Engineer Mohamed Shimi and Major General Mokhtar Abdel Latif
toured the Digital Manufacturing Center at the Engine Factory, inspecting its
sections and modern equipment for water pump manufacturing, as well as a
product exhibition.
Engineer Mohamed Shimi stressed the importance of
strengthening partnerships and integration among national industrial
institutions. He noted that adopting modern manufacturing technologies like 3D
printing has become an urgent necessity to enhance the competitiveness of
Egyptian industry, reduce reliance on imports, and increase local operational
rates.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Public Business Sector
is implementing a comprehensive plan to modernize its affiliated companies,
which includes digital transformation and technology localization," stated
Engineer Shimi. He highlighted the significance of smart manufacturing
solutions and practical partnerships in reducing imports and boosting local
added value, especially in strategic industries.
For his part, Major General Mokhtar Abdel Latif stated that AOI successfully anticipated the importance of this advanced technology early on and achieved leadership in this field by establishing the Digital Manufacturing Center. The center is equipped with the latest global technologies in accordance with Fourth Industrial Revolution standards and boasts human capabilities trained in the latest digital manufacturing systems. He explained that the technology for manufacturing all types and uses of pumps has been localized, adding that the center can meet all industrial needs according to global standards of accuracy and quality.
He further stressed that AOI possesses the distinguished
manufacturing capabilities to apply this advanced technology across various
sectors, fulfilling President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to increase
local manufacturing, localize technology, reduce imports, and maximize the
"Made in Egypt" slogan.
He clarified that manufacturing spare parts using 3D
printing and digital machinery is an innovative process that allows
organizations to produce specialized, high-precision spare parts on demand,
faster, and more efficiently.
Crucially, this technology facilitates the design and
production of unique or no-longer-available spare parts. Its proven
applications extend across key industries such as automotive, aerospace,
industrial machinery, and medical devices.
The workshop was attended by Major General Engineer Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim Othman, Director General of AOI, and other AOI leaders, representatives of Immensa and its CEO Engineer Fahmy El-Shawa, Engineer Mohamed El-Saadawy, Managing Director of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company, and a number of heads of companies affiliated with the Metallurgical, Chemical, and Spinning and Weaving Holding Companies under the Ministry of Public Business Sector. Representatives from the Ministries of Transport, Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Petroleum and Mineral Resources, were present.
