El Khatib reviews Egypt- UAE strategic partnership negotiations

El Khatib reviews Egypt- UAE strategic partnership negotiations

Engineer Hassan El Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, discussed on Thursday with Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, ways to strengthen trade relations between the two brotherly countries. They also discussed developments in the negotiations regarding the strategic partnership agreement between Egypt and the UAE.

El Khatib stated that the meeting reviewed the economic reforms adopted by the country to create a suitable investment environment and encourage investors to attract more investments, in light of the issuance of several relevant laws. He noted that the country is currently working to implement a set of financial, monetary, and commercial reforms that will simplify investment procedures, reduce the burden on investors, and facilitate Egypt's foreign trade.

He indicated that the meeting reviewed the role of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade in supporting and attracting foreign direct investment with the aim of increasing exports. He highlighted current government measures to automate customs and reduce non-tax financial burdens, as well as unify collection agencies and reduce customs clearance times.

El Khatib praised Emirati investments in Egypt, given the numerous successful experiences of various companies, calling on the Emirati side to direct relevant government agencies and business circles to enhance their investments in Egypt. He affirmed the Ministry's commitment to providing all forms of support to Emirati companies investing in Egypt and working to remove any obstacles they may face, in cooperation and coordination with various relevant Egyptian authorities.

He reviewed the investment opportunities available in Egypt, which are of interest to the Emirati side, particularly opportunities in the tourism, industry, and agriculture sectors, in addition to port development, the establishment of logistics zones, railway development, investment zones, and investments in the energy sector.

For his part, Dr. Al Zeyoudi affirmed his country's commitment to strengthening economic relations with Egypt in various areas of common interest between the two countries, noting the importance of working to achieve trade and industrial integration between the two countries at the bilateral and Arab levels.
