Fattouh said that the Egyptian and Arab people support President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's call to end the war in Gaza and establish an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and to organize an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
Fattouh cited El-Sisi's statement: "Even if Israel succeeds in concluding normalization agreements with all Arab countries, a lasting, just, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East will remain elusive unless a Palestinian state is established in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions."
He stressed that the Egyptian people are fully aware of the importance of security and stability in the Arab region and believe that the security of Gaza and the Arab countries is integral to the security and stability of Egypt and the region as a whole, as the current security situation in the region primarily affects Egyptian national security and Arab national security in general.
He pointed out that as a result of these regional challenges, which have impacted international commercial shipping, Egypt has incurred approximately $7 billion in losses in a single year, with the Suez Canal losing more than 60% of its revenues for 2024.
