The company's relevant experiences were presented at the meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Environment's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. Attendees included Yasser Abdullah, Head of the Waste Management Regulatory Authority, and Engineer Rehab Yehia, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad explored opportunities for collaboration
in recycling demolition and construction waste for use in the construction
sector, emphasizing the current coordination and cooperation initiatives aimed
at maximizing its benefits at the governorate level nationwide.
The Minister affirmed a clear national strategy and enabling
legislation for recycling all types of waste, emphasizing the Waste Management
Regulation Law's support for private sector involvement. She then listened to
the Arab Contractors Company's experience in recycling construction and
demolition waste, as well as wood, and their success in manufacturing new
wooden furniture. Engineer Ahmed El-Assar, the company's Chairman, highlighted
their significant progress in construction and demolition waste recycling, a
project initiated three years ago. He noted the company's comprehensive system,
including laboratories for testing its remanufacturing into concrete materials
and the necessary crushers for the process.
The Chairman of Arab Contractors Company further stated that
the company is recycling wood waste from their construction sites into usable
wood products. He explained that the entire manufacturing process occurs in
their factories in the 10th of Ramadan City, where product samples, including
office and home furniture, are showcased in a dedicated exhibition and marketed
by the company's employees. He also noted that these products are utilized in
the company's own projects, emphasizing the project's goal of repurposing tons
of accumulated wood waste to avoid environmental harm.
The Minister of Environment lauded the company's achievements in this project, pledging comprehensive support, promotional activities, and an examination of the potential for broader application. She accepted the invitation to tour the company's wood recycling facility in the 10th of Ramadan City for a direct assessment and instructed the provision of all pertinent industrial waste information to investigate potential utilization by the company.
