Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received Ahmed Al Mutawa, Regional CEO of Abu Dhabi (AD) Ports Group, a leading global pioneer of trade, industry, and logistics services, and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry's headquarters in the Government District of the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Ihab Ragaai, First Undersecretary of the Ministry for Production Affairs; Engineer Khaled El-Badry, Head of the Central Projects Administration; and Engineer Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Minister's Office and Technical Office Affairs and the Ministry's Official Spokesperson.

Badawi congratulated the AD Ports Group delegation on the signing of the agreement to develop the KEZAD East Port Said area with the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which was recently witnessed by Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister.

Badawi explained that the Egyptian petroleum and mineral resources sector enjoys promising investment opportunities in light of the six main axes of the Ministry’s current work strategy, which will open horizons for increasing cooperation between the two sides during the coming period, whether in petroleum, mining or infrastructure activities, and working to benefit from the expertise and technologies that AD Ports Group possesses in trade, industry and logistics services activities, to contribute effectively to the optimal exploitation of Egypt’s strategic location and the assets it possesses, including ports, road and transportation networks, airports, oil and gas pipeline networks, strategic warehouses and gas liquefaction plants in Idku and Damietta, which support Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub in the region, increase regional cooperation and form strategic partnerships that achieve the interests of all, in addition to investment opportunities in renewable energy and clean energy projects such as hydrogen and green ammonia, which are witnessing cooperation with international companies to implement them in Egypt.

Al Mutawa thanked Badawi for the invitation to this meeting. He praised the six pillars of the Ministry's strategy, which include diverse activities that are not far from the group's business plans and strategy, which prioritizes Egypt in its investments. He invited Badawi to visit AD Ports Group's terminals and facilities to learn about the operating system and technologies used in these facilities, which can be replicated in Egypt.

The two sides agreed to hold joint workshops to study potential projects and develop visions and mechanisms for their implementation in the coming period. Badawi invited the AD Ports Group delegation to attend the Egypt Mining Forum next July to learn about the investment opportunities available in the Egyptian mining sector.
