Discussions to launch global cosmetics in Egypt

Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), discussed with representatives of major cosmetics companies (Eva, Procter & Gamble, Kenvue, L'Oréal, and Unilever) ways to strengthen the presence of global brands in the Egyptian market, provide them with all necessary technical and procedural support, and offer investment incentives that will strengthen their presence in the Egyptian pharmaceutical market.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Hanan Amin, Head of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Products, Dr. Amani Gawdat, Assistant to the Chairman of the Authority and Supervisor of the Central Administration of the Office of the Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, Dr. Amira Mahgoub, Head of the Central Administration for Operations, and Dr. Osama Hatem, Assistant to the Chairman of the Authority for Policy and International Cooperation Affairs.

Representatives of cosmetic companies also attended, including Dr. Yasmine Armanious, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Eva Cosmetics; Dr. Ramy Sabry, Registration Manager at Eva Cosmetics, Dr. Louay Moamen, Executive Board Member for External Relations and Regulatory Affairs at Procter & Gamble Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Farag, Director of Emerging and Developing Markets at Kenvue, and Dr. Ahmed Senara, Country Manager for Kenvue in Egypt and the Horn of Africa.

The meeting discussed the current status of the cosmetics market in Egypt and the challenges facing some global brands. Visions were exchanged on developing cosmetics registration mechanisms, ensuring the quality and safety of imported products, while maintaining the flow of supply and ensuring product availability in the local market.

El-Ghamrawy stressed the Authority's ongoing efforts to support the cosmetics industry and create an attractive investment environment, keeping pace with global developments in this sector and serving Egypt's sustainable development goals.

Global cosmetics companies also expressed their appreciation for the EDA's efforts in supporting the industry, facilitating regulatory procedures, and creating a stimulating business environment capable of attracting international investment. They stressed that these initiatives reflect the Authority's professionalism and its commitment to achieving a balance between protecting consumer health and promoting local market growth.

This comes within the framework of the EDA's commitment to strengthening communication channels with various industrial sectors, contributing to supporting the local market and achieving a balance between facilitating regulatory procedures and ensuring access to safe, high-quality products for Egyptian consumers.
