Saad: Building demolitions halted after reconciliation request

Tax expert Dr. John Saad revealed that a ruling was issued by the Administrative Court stipulating that simply submitting a reconciliation request and paying the prescribed fees prevents the administrative authority from taking any removal action even if Form 3 is not issued.

Saad said that the court confirmed that submitting a reconciliation request and paying the fees legally suspends the removal procedures, and the administrative authority may not demolish or remove any building for which a reconciliation request has been submitted.

He added that the Prime Minister's Office has decided to extend the deadline for submitting reconciliation requests for certain building violations to the relevant administrative authority for an additional six months, starting May 5, 2025, in accordance with the new Reconciliation Law No. 187 of 2023 and its executive regulations. This decision is part of the state's efforts to facilitate citizens' affairs and take into account the social dimension.

Saad stressed that the decision reflects the political leadership’s keenness to provide the largest possible number of citizens with the opportunity to reconcile their legal situations, especially in light of the desire of citizens to submit requests for reconciliation during the recent period.

He stressed the importance of this issue in achieving social stability and preserving citizens' rights and real estate property.
