Electricity Minister oversees Summer readiness, grid enhancements

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, held a key meeting with sector leaders and grid operators to review ongoing efforts to ensure stable electricity supply, optimize fuel efficiency, and prepare the national grid for the summer.

Discussions centered on the current state of the network and the measures in place to guarantee power during the summer months. This included updates on the completion of maintenance schedules, the integration of recently added generation capacity, and the progress of strengthening the unified grid.

Dr. Esmat also assessed the timelines of ongoing projects and their integration with the grid, aligning with the national energy strategy to meet anticipated summer demand. The meeting covered improvements in subsidiary company performance, economic operational practices, fuel efficiency, and the transition towards greater renewable energy integration, all aimed at ensuring continuous power supply as per the sector's objectives.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed maintenance timelines, power unit outages, and fault repair response times. The Minister instructed continued network development to handle expected increases in electricity demand.

Focusing on summer preparedness, Dr. Esmat mandated the swift finalization of maintenance programs and increased inspections to verify their effective implementation across all network components. He stressed the importance of monitoring connection point temperatures and immediate action to rectify any issues or hotspots to prevent disruptions during anticipated high temperatures. Priority areas include densely populated regions with high load or known hotspots to secure power supply during summer and heatwaves, ensuring the safety of all grid infrastructure under the energy efficiency plan.

Dr. Esmat underscored the need to maintain momentum on the ongoing strategic plan, emphasizing a positive work environment for employees to ensure efficient task completion. He reiterated the importance of continuously improving network efficiency to guarantee stable power supply, optimal system operation, and meeting the energy demands of the state's sustainable development plan, particularly for new urban, industrial, and agricultural projects nationwide.
