Chairman of SCZone visits Khalifa Port, KEZAD City, Noatum Company

Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), and his accompanying delegation, visited several vital facilities belonging to Abu Dhabi Ports Group. The visit aims to strengthen joint cooperation, exchanging expertise, and explore opportunities in the fields of port and economic zone development.

The tour commenced with a visit to Khalifa Port, owned and operated by the Abu Dhabi Ports Group. Subsequently, a meeting was held with Julian Doland Skirmi, Head of Administration for the Ports Sector at the Group, and Khaled Al Amry, Director of Terminal Operations at Khalifa Port. During the meeting, a presentation detailed the port's operational system and its role within the logistics cluster of ports. This was followed by a field tour of the port and its facilities.

Gamal El-Din highlighted the SCZone's commitment to forging strategic partnerships with entities boasting successful business models. He underscored the belief in regional integration and expertise exchange driving this approach. He emphasized the SCZone's role as a global logistics and industrial gateway connecting East and West, presenting significant opportunities for global investors due to its strategic location, integrated infrastructure, and investor-friendly facilities in ports and industrial zones. He affirmed the SCZone's ambitious port development plan, which includes infrastructure modernization, berth expansion, increased handling capacity, and enhanced logistics efficiency, ultimately bolstering its regional and international competitiveness.

The delegation also visited Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), an affiliate of Abu Dhabi Ports Group near Khalifa Port, to explore cooperation in industrial zone management and logistics services. They received an introductory tour of KEZAD, including a detailed explanation of its operational mechanisms. The visit also featured an extensive meeting with Noatum Logistics, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports Group with over 60 years of experience, where discussions focused on supply chain and logistics service integration between the two entities.

This visit marks the initiation of executive steps to activate the memorandum of understanding signed in November 2024 between the SCZone and Abu Dhabi Ports Group. The MoU concerns the development, construction, operation, and management of a roughly 20 square kilometer industrial zone within the East Port Said integrated industrial zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, under a usufruct system.
