The US Embassy in Egypt affirmed its commitment to supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic cooperation that promotes shared prosperity for youth in Egypt and the United States. The embassy said that, through its support of initiatives such as the Maker Faire Cairo exhibition, it seeks to enable young people to interact with the fields of science, technology and arts.

It said that it is proud to support Maker Faire Cairo, which celebrated its tenth anniversary this year. The event was held at the Greek Campus in downtown Cairo and showcased the creativity and innovation of Egyptian makers from various fields.

Since its launch in 2015, Maker Faire Cairo has grown to become one of the most prominent Do It Yourself (DIY) festivals in the Middle East and North Africa, attracting thousands of participants annually. This event is organized by San3a Tech in cooperation with the American Center in Cairo (ACC), to form an inspiring platform that brings together innovators, artists, engineers, and creators from various backgrounds to showcase their innovations, inspire others, and motivate them to create.

“The makers, artists, and engineers participating in this year’s Maker Faire embody the spirit of true creativity,” said Gina Cabrera, Spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. “By working together and sharing ideas, we can build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for both the United States and Egypt.”

This year, the exhibition included more than 50 workshops, 8 live performances, and 15 exhibitions, in addition to a knowledge center that hosted dialogue sessions and applied educational experiences, covering a variety of topics from robotics to woodworking and others.

This year’s edition welcomed more than 2,000 makers and innovators from Egypt and around the world. The 10th anniversary celebration of the Cairo fair reflects the remarkable growth of this vibrant and inspiring community.

The Maker Faire series began at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2003 and quickly evolved into a global movement that encourages individuals to think creatively and turn ideas into reality.
