The ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, and Cristina Fraile, Deputy Head of the Spanish Mission. The MoU was signed by Engineer Sayed Mohamed Shalaby, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Aquaculture Company, and José Luis Dajador, Managing Director of the Tejedor Lazaro Group.
Madbouly emphasized the Egyptian state's commitment to building
partnerships and alliances with international entities and companies to benefit
from their expertise in various sectors and fields. He highlighted the
importance of the MoU, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to
Spain, which aimed to support strategic cooperation and investment between the
two countries and establish sustainable strategic relations. He noted that the MoU
concerns food security in the areas of fisheries, aquaculture, and the feed
industry, all of which are important areas in which the state has achieved
tangible progress in recent years.
He said, "There are promising investment opportunities in the
fisheries sector, especially in light of the tremendous development in this
industry recently, as numerous sites have been offered for fish farming."
Rabie stressed that the signing of the MoU today comes within the framework of the state's efforts, with its various agencies, to encourage investment and attract foreign capital to contribute, alongside national capital, to the establishment of major sustainable development projects. The two parties agreed to sign the MoU in light of achieving common interests that both parties seek to achieve, and the development and expansion of existing projects.
