Kouchouk presents new budget to parliament

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk began presenting the draft of the new fiscal year 2025/2026 budget to the House of Representatives within the framework of a comprehensive vision for the state's public finances.

During the presentation of the new budget's financial statement to the House of Representatives, the minister emphasized that the 2025/2026 budget would be a "budget of growth, stability, and partnership with the business community.” He stated that they build upon the implemented reforms, supported by a noticeable improvement in financial and economic performance over the past nine months. He added that he has sensed their appreciated support for the financial and economic reform path during his previous meeting after his first 100 days in the new ministry.

He further added that he affirms the commitment to the four priorities of financial policies, including increasing spending on human development, social protection, and support programs for priority groups. He explained that the government aims for a positive transformation of the Egyptian economy, which would be reflected in improving citizens' living standards, creating a "partnership of trust" between taxes and the business community, adopting a balanced fiscal policy to drive growth and maintain financial stability, and reducing debt rates and burdens.

Kouchouk affirmed that the ministry aims to expand the tax base by incentivizing voluntary compliance with a significant degree of flexibility and support for taxpayers. He pointed out that the Tax Authority has begun to change to become a partner that protects taxpayers' rights just as it safeguards the state's rights.

He told the representatives that without their support, their ideas would not have turned into a new reality that paves the way for formulating a simplified tax system that drives investment.
