El-Wazir: Offering vacant industrial units in Luxor, Aswan

Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, revealed that it is scheduled to announce the launch of a number of vacant industrial units, ready and fully equipped, in Luxor and Aswan governorates and the rest of Egypt’s governorates on the first of next May in celebration of Labor Day.

El-Wazir directed the Industrial Development Authority to reiterate the industrial establishments that obtained operating licenses and did not start production, exceeding the period of time specified by the Authority, of the necessity of starting operation as soon as possible, to avoid the Authority taking measures to withdraw land, as well as emphasizing the application of deterrent measures on the irrigation of industrial lands.

He held a meeting Saturday evening at the headquarters of the General Authority for Industrial Development with Engineer Abdel Muttalib Emara, Governor of Luxor, and Major General Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nahed Youssef, Chairman of the General Authority for Industrial Development, leaders from the Ministry of Industry and the General Authority for Industrial Development, heads of the governorate's industrial zones and their executive bodies, representatives of relevant authorities, and investors from the two governorates. The meeting discussed the challenges and problems facing investors in the various industrial zones in the two governorates, and the necessary measures to overcome these challenges. During the meeting, the implementation status of the approved industrial zones and complexes in Luxor and Aswan governorates was reviewed.

El-Wazir directed officials and representatives of the General Authority for Industrial Development to hold regular meetings and discussion sessions with officials from both Aswan and Luxor governorates and relevant authorities to follow up on the implementation of the Ministry of Industry's decisions and recommendations aimed at achieving sustainable industrial development in the governorate.

The meeting also addressed all obstacles facing industrial investors on the ground, briefed them on investment incentives to encourage them, and assessed the progress rates of projects being implemented by the Ministry of Transport such as roads, high-speed trains, dry ports, and logistics zones, which effectively contribute to the development of Upper Egypt in a manner befitting its enormous potential. El-Wazir stressed the importance of fostering serious dialogue between the Ministry and industrial investors to understand their needs and requirements, which will positively impact the ability to accommodate their requirements regarding the specifications and areas of industrial land, factories, units, and small workshops in upcoming new offerings.

The meeting addressed the implementation status of approved industrial zones and complexes in Luxor Governorate, which includes three industrial zones with a total area of 1,769 acres. The current status of industrial land allocation and operation in each region was reviewed, along with a discussion of the status of services and implementation rates in these areas.

El-Wazir met with investors from the two governorates. Several requirements of investors in the craft industrial zone in Nasr El-Nuba Center, east of El-Geneina (the industrial complex in El-Geneina and El-Shabak), were reviewed, most notably their desire to own their units.

He directed the General Authority for Industrial Development to quickly resolve their legitimate demands and proceed with the investors on the financial and legal procedures to grant them ownership of their units.
