Farouk stressed that the Egyptian state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, prioritizes food security and social stability in light of successive global challenges. He noted that the Ministry of Supply is working according to an integrated strategy to develop supply services, strengthen the domestic trade system, and achieve social protection for millions of citizens.
He reviewed the ministry’s most prominent achievements,
most notably: increasing the storage capacity of wheat through the national
silo project, which contributed to reducing waste and ensuring the quality of
storage, and continuing to support more than 62 million citizens in the supply
system, and 69 million in the bread system, to ensure that support reaches
those who deserve it, modernizing and developing supply offices and turning
them into advanced service centers within the digital transformation plan,
launching the modern internal trade system, and establishing logistical zones,
organized markets, and one-day markets to reduce waste and achieve price
stability.
Farouk also announced the ministry's intention to
implement a package of future projects in cooperation with the House of
Representatives and the Senate. These include: expanding the establishment of
supply and distribution chains, regulating markets, encouraging investment in
the retail sector, and developing the support system to ensure fairness and
efficiency in allocating resources.
He expressed his appreciation to the Senate, emphasizing the ministry's continued commitment to integrating with the legislative authority and working in accordance with the directives of the political leadership to build a modern state that enjoys food security and social stability.
