Farouk confirmed that the official supply season for local wheat will begin on April 15 in all governorates. He noted that the supply price of an ardeb of local wheat this year has been set at EGP 2,200, an encouraging price for farmers and higher than the price of imported wheat. He also noted that a number of other incentives reflect the state's commitment to supporting Egyptian farmers and achieving self-sufficiency in wheat as a key strategic commodity.
He emphasized that the Ministry has taken all necessary
measures to facilitate supply operations, provide equipped and approved
receiving sites, and continue daily monitoring to ensure the regularity and
stability of the season and achieve the state's goals of supporting food
security.
It's worth noting that the start of supply operations in Fayoum was attended by Dr. Ashraf Sadek Ghazy, Managing Director and CEO of the Holding Company for Silos and Storage, Hossam El-Garrahy, Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities, and Sameh Shebl, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Fayoum.
