Habeck stated that the government aims to provide these credits for public charging stations "as an incentive to purchase new and used electric vehicles," according to a document from his ministry published on Thursday in the Funke Media Group newspapers.
The plan also incorporates
purchase incentives. It proposes introducing a tax incentive specifically for
low- and middle-income buyers of electric vehicles. This would allow them to
deduct a portion of the purchase price from their taxes, mirroring the tax
benefits currently available for energy-efficient home renovations.
The ministry is also considering
a leasing model to make electric vehicles accessible to individuals with
limited incomes. The document also focuses on the used electric vehicle market.
It states: "In order to boost the used car market, we want to support
professional battery inspections with an amount of €100."
It's worth noting that electric vehicle sales in Germany have been stagnant for some time. At the end of 2023, the environmental bonus for electric vehicles was discontinued early due to a budget crisis.
